Classification Schemes
A classification scheme is a reusable arrangement — a hierarchy of headings you can stamp onto more than one collection instead of rebuilding it each time. Parish records, school records, a company's departmental filing: anywhere the same shape recurs.
Find it at Settings → Classification schemes.
Importing collections from a spreadsheet is a separate job on its own page — see Importing a structure.
Importing a scheme
Schemes come in from a spreadsheet.
- Click Import scheme.
- Work through the Import classification scheme dialog.
- The scheme appears in the list on the left, showing how many nodes it has and where it came from.
With none yet, the page reads No classification schemes yet — "Import a scheme from a spreadsheet to get started."
Applying one
Select a scheme in the left-hand list and the panel opens with:
- Rename this scheme
- Apply to collections — choose which collections should take this arrangement
- Delete scheme
The panel prompts "Select a scheme from the list to apply it." until you pick one.
Who can use it
Admins and members can import, rename, apply and delete schemes. Reviewers and volunteers see the page read-only. It isn't tied to a plan.
